ST Vincent de paul food appeal collection
Every year in Scoil Mhuire Senior the children and teachers in 6th class collect food for the St Vincent De Paul Christmas Food Appeal.. Many local families benefit from the hard work and generosity of the Scoil Mhuire Senior school community. Principal Gerry KIng leads the way in fostering community spirit in the school and takes great pride in what has been collected or charity by our children.
Scoil Mhuire Senior DOnates €3965 to Charity
Scoil Mhuire Senior And the Spirit of Christmas
Christmas is a time for giving and the children, staff and parents of Scoil Mhuire Senior give generously to those in need year after year. This Christmas they have raised and donated €3965 to local charities.
The 4th Class Carol Singers sang in Dunnes Stores and Tescos last week and many parents and passersby stopped to commend them on their beautiful singing and happy faces. These cheerful carol singers not only raised €720 for people in need but helped to spread Christmas cheer for all who heard them.
The annual Christmas Sale of Work in Scoil Mhuire Senior was once again a great success thanks to the generosity of parents and staff who donated toys and cakes for sale. Over €3245 was raised for charity. St Brigid’s Hospice, the Vincent de Paul and Meals on Wheels are among the charities which benefit from the hard work and fun of this event.
Not content with all this giving, the children and staff of 6th Class set about making food hampers for the local Newbridge ‘Share Food’ initiative. Recognising that there are many who find Christmas difficult the children kindly donated innumerable perishable items. So much food was collected that an incredible amount of hampers were created for families in need this Christmas.
If you ever wondered where to find good deeds, kindness and the true meaning of Christmas, come to Scoil Mhuire Senior. There you will find a community of students, staff and parents, led by principal Gerry King, who know giving to others is where Christmas joy is found.
