National Biodiversity Week
To celebrate National Biodiversity Week, the pupils from Scoil Mhuire took part in a number of activities to explore the habitats around us.
Pupils from 4th and 6th class took part in the Waterways Ireland Grand Canal workshop in Naas. It gave the children a chance to learn more about the array of wildlife that call the Grand Canal their home.
Pupils from 5th and 6th class travelled to Pollardstown Fen and on their heritage tour.
3rd Class pupils decorated plant pots and planted flowers to brighten up our corridors. They also spent time learning about plant and animal habitats as well as exploring our school habitat.

Our school also took part in the An Taisce National Spring Clean-up event. The Green School committee members organised the event to help improve our local environment. The children showed a lot of enthusiasm on the day and they are making a great effort to keep our school litter free. We also planted some lovely flowers in our school flower beds.

National Tree Week Winners

Our Greens Schools committee members were busy promoting National Tree Week which took place from March 31st until April 7th. They came up with some great ideas for activities and we had some worthy winners of our art competition. The committee members also created a lovely display in our hall to celebrate National Tree Week.
