The Curragh racecourse
On the 20th of September 5th classes were lucky enough to be invited to the Curragh Racecourse to learn about the racetrack and what is involved in horse racing. The children heard from a number of different people involved in the horse racing industry including valet Dave Fox, Trainer Dick Brabazon, Farrier Donal Bennet, Track manager Richie Brophy and from RACE Aine O Connor. The children competed in a race on the track where there was a prize for a boy and girl from each group. A number of children also had a chance to experience the simulator. A great day was had by all!
There was also a short essay competition for each school and Neala Kildea from Mrs Neas was the overall winner from our school. Neala received a prize at the races on the 28th September. Comhghairdeas Neala.
